Advisory Board

The Kombo Collective’s advisory board is comprised of professionals in the music industry and academia who contribute their wisdom and insight into furthering the organization’s artistic vision and future.

Christos Marinos is a collaborative pianist, vocal and Greek diction coach, music director and researcher based in Greece. He has performed in collaborative piano recitals and concerts in Europe and the United States. He is the co-founder and artistic director of the Colla Voce Workshop for classical singers and collaborative pianists, the first of its kind in Greece. He is passionate about the vast and unique world of Greek Art Song, which he continuously researches, performs, coaches and teaches in Greece and abroad.

Elektra Schmidt performs as solo artist and in chamber groups in the United States, France, Greece, and the United Kingdom. Notable recent engagements include performing as soloist with the Santa Rosa Symphony, the Golden Gate Symphony and the Bay Area’s Awesöme Orchestra. She is the founder of Artist Migration, an organization dedicated to the integration and mobility of international artists. Elektra has collaborated with international festivals throughout the world including the San Francisco International Arts Festival, the Arundel Festival and Oxford Philomusica in the United Kingdom.

Vassilis Lambropoulos is the C. P. Cavafy Professor Emeritus of Classical Studies and Comparative Literature at the University of Michigan. He was a Professor of Modern Greek at the University of Michigan (1999-2018) and The Ohio State University (1981-99) where he taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Modern Greek language, literature, criticism, and culture, as well as literary theory and comparative literature. His main research interests are modern Greek culture; classical reception and the classic; civic ethics and democratic politics; tragedy and the tragic; word/poetry and music.
